WE GOT OUT!
Matthew had a wonderful time, especially when Angela showed up. Ben, on the other hand, kept making a break for the street, so I finally put him in his stroller. He was actually happy to just watch the kids. Maybe the playground intimidates him, I don't know. MJ was very pink-cheeked by the end and they had a wonderful time.
Rob and I started our class yesterday. It was fun and I will enjoy the academic challenge. We're taking Intro to World Missions together with Mr. Trainer, who is both interesting and challenging. For Rob, it will be one of his easier classes. He got his syllabus today for Greek Syntax and just about died. It took me about an hour to get all of the assignments into his planner! (Yes, I do his planner, because if I didn't, he'd walk around lost, confused, and flunking.) Thanks to Rachael for watching the kiddos at 7am....hope you're awake on Thursday when I drop them off :)
Rob and I will be starting in a new ministry in September. Our church is starting Truth Trackers for ages 4-6th grade. I knew the program acutally started at 3, so when we enquired about the 3's, we were told that they hold back the 4's and 5's. I wasn't too happy about Matthew having to go back into the nursery instead of learning God's Word on Wednesday's, so Rob and I volunteered to do the Tiny Trackers for the 3's in an unused nursery room. We just got the go-ahead today, so we're very excited! I was saved when I was three, so I know that young children even at that age can come to Christ and can most certainly hide God's Word in their hearts. The verse that kept coming to mind as I pondered what to do was "Let no man despise you because of your youth." I just wanted the little guys to have a chance! We'll go to our first training meeting tonight.
Rob has not heard about the new job, beyond that they received his application. He is working 44 hours a week right now at the Custom Shoppe. Yippee. Pray for us as we adjust to our "Rob gone all the time" schedule.

Odds and Ends
We had a nice time with them. It was especially nice for Rob because he got some help cooking. He and Mom made a Salmon dinner (someone gave us one) with fried potatoes. I ate a hamburger....I do not touch most fish while pregnant (you're not supposed to anyway) and I can't stand salmon normally. I did make a Tupperware cake for dessert...very yummy! Mom and I did some grocery shopping in the afternoon and had a wonderful time. We took a walk that evening after supper and the boys loved it. We've had so much rain and Mommy has been so sick that they haven't been out much.
We had a nice time on Sunday as well. After lunch, we all walked over to Mullin's Dairy for ice cream. Ben fell asleep eating his, so Matthew ended up with two kiddie dishes. We walked through the Antique Mall afterwards and had a nice time. I was pretty exhausted by the time they left. I think it was just from talking to them! Of course, watching grass grow makes you tired when you're pregnant. :)
Rob had a very special treat on Sunday night. Matthew had come downstairs after bedtime and fell asleep on the couch. Rob got to carry him up to bed, loving every minute. Those precious moments just get fewer and fewer. Then, Benjamin woke up at 11:45 pm with a nightmare. He sat with me (nodding off periodically) until Rob came out of the bathroom and got to put a sleeping Ben to bed. I am so blessed to have a husband that is thrilled to put sleeping children in their beds. He just loves those little boys to pieces!
Rob had to do something very horrible last night: He shaved. He cannot keep his goatee during the school year and he looks like an old man with just a mustache, so he is now clean-shaven. I do not like that face as much without hair, but at least it didn't make me cry or shock me to pieces this time. I know it's just hair, but Rob does not look the same without. He can't wait until he takes grad classes and can grow the goat all year round. Ben kind of looked at him for a bit and then smiled this morning. Matthew, on the other hand, would not stop laughing. He kept running up to Rob to look at him and laugh. I finally had to put a stop to it because it was beginning to hurt Rob's feelings. Matthew and I had a talk about laughing at people, and he did better after that.
I have more funny family stories, but my head is pounding, so I'll write later.

Baby QE Update
Here is the latest picture of Baby Q.E. I think she looks like a blob (yes, she...wishful thinking) but Rob says that he can see the head (obvious), arms, and can tell that her legs are crossed. He has better eyes than I!
As it turns out, I will have another c-section. I know that in some places they will do VBACs no matter how many prior c-sections a person has had: southern Wisconsin is not one of those places. They would if I had only one, but since I've had two, I have to go c-section again. Oh, well, it is kind of nice to have it scheduled instead of going with the unknown. Since I'll probably never deliver naturally, my hope now is that I can nurse this baby instead of doing formula. I'd like to be able to perform at least one of my God-given female talents! (Okay, I guess I have been and am pregnant, so make that two talents.)
I will also be delivering in Oconomowoc instead of Watertown since my doctor does not deliver here. That is also fine, because they have a pretty nice birthing center. A menu to order from instead of getting my drab food chosen for me, a celebration dinner for me and Rob, plasma TV, a private room, fridge in the room, the kids AND grandparents can visit whenever they like (hey Mom, wanna spend the night???) ....basically, a whole new world from Kaiser in San Jose!
Some of you are probably wondering about the gestational diabetes....well, I had a blood draw today (many, actually) and one of them will test my blood sugar levels for the past few months. (How can they know that???) If they are high, I'll get tested now. If not, I get tested at 28 weeks, but need to start eating on the diet and lightly exercising in the meantime. That's fine with me because the less time I have to home test, the better off I'll be! Being diet controlled the last two times keeps me from being less scared about this pregnancy.
So that's the update on Baby Q.E. Next appointment is in September and we'll find out if she's a she on October 23rd. Oh, we have our decoy names picked out. A boy will be Icabod Silas, which means "The glory has departed from the forest." A girl will be Deborah Eunice, which means "Honey Bee Joyful." (Deborah actually was a real name choice, but it's funny with Eunice) We dropped those names at a get-together recently and you should have seen people's faces! They were trying to be polite while hiding their dislike of the names. It was so fun! Actually, we have no boy name chosen as of yet, but we do have a girl name we like. We haven't decided if we'll announce before or after she's born. Matthew already knows it, so we'll probably have to tell :)
That's all for now. My parents are coming tomorrow, so it's time to clean. You know the drill, make your house appear nicer than it ever does on a normal day so that people don't know how you really live :)

Heeeeere's Matthew!
I said, "What's that chair doing there?", hoping to speculate on why the chair was there.
Matthew's response: "It's sitting there."

Miss(ed) Manners
Matthew let out a rather loud burp at the table. I asked, "What do you say, Matthew?"
He replied, with a big smile, "I BURPED!!"
**sigh** Back to square one...... ;)

An Update
Today we had a picnic with our Sunday school class. It was a lot of fun, in spite of the rain. The food was good, the company better, and the kids had a great time playing on the playground in the rain. Our teacher "hid" a bunch of candy in the grass and the kids collected it. I helped Ben, but he caught on pretty quickly and didn't need much help! I think he found as much as Matthew did. We didn't get to play any games because of the rain, but it was fun anyway.
Rob is going to apply for a new job on Monday. If hired, he will be working 3rd shift. Now, I am terribly afraid of being alone in the dark, but for some reason, I have a real peace about this job. We had another "kick in the pants", so to speak, when we got the results from our semi-annual review for our state insurance/food share benefits. Rob and I were kicked off because his job offers insurance (although it is WAY too expensive) and our food share benefits were reduced to less than half of what we had before. Rob worked a lot of overtime this summer and I had to project earnings from Tupperware, so that did us in. So, he will hopefully get this other job and we're praying that my Tupperware takes off. In fact, with these new hours, our car situation is solved because I can be home from a party before he takes off for work.
Oh, before anyone panics and thinks that we're uncovered, Rob will be getting insurance through MBBC for the semester until his new job's insurance kicks in, I'm still covered because I'm pregnant (but will then go onto Rob's) and the boys are covered by the state until they are six, but we'll switch them to Rob's when his kicks in. So we are okay, as far as that's concerned. And we did get food share benefits for August: our decrease does not take effect until mid-September. So we're okay.
We had a wonderful evening with the boys. We played Candyland (I won) and even Ben tried to join in. Then we had a massive tickle fest. Rob then weightlifted with the boys. I don't mean that they all three had weights: I mean that ROB weightlifted WITH the boys. They were his dumbbells, so to speak. He bench presses them, uses them for arm curls, and other fun things. They love it, although Ben was too wiggly at first to be benchpressed. It's fun to watch them play!
That's all for now. Have a lovely day!

Our 8th Anniversary
We spent our morning playing with the boys (oh, Rob took a vacation day from work, isn't he sweet?) and we did some errands. Rob and Ben ran over to Maranatha to get his financial aid squared away. We have to jump through a few hoops, as our tax returns look huge compared to what we make, due to taking out retirement early. It's not a big deal and the person Rob deals with is the father of his former college roommate, so that's fun for him. Matthew and I went over to a friend's house to set up her on-line Tupperware party and to practice demonstrating the products on her. We ended up with Ben while Rob ran back home for some paper work, which was fine, because Ben loves to play with Day-ya (David.)
Rob took us to McDonald's for lunch (a rare, but welcome treat) and the boys had fun playing. We had to leave early when Matthew turned into a bully. He can be so sweet, and then turn around and do something horrible (like pull a little girl's hair) the next second. The boys went down for naps and then we got to work on our anniversary gift: a clean study.
The study (or den, or library, or extra room) has been various shades of "in shambles" since we moved in a year ago. We decided to clean it up as a gift to ourselves. Rob took many things down to the basement, I sorted papers, Rob put away books, I taped up a million books the boys have ripped over the past few months, and so on. It looks pretty good. I still have to tackle my desk area and the love seat (a.k.a. Matthew's launch pad) has to be moved in, but it looks WAY better than it did earlier today. Happy Anniversary to us!
Around five o'clock, we took the kids over to another friend's house. We had to use the back entrance, as they sprayed for German Yellowjacket Wasps (or fancy bees, as I call them...Rob calls them imported bees) at their front entrance. The kids had a blast as we took ourselves to the Pine Cone, a fun restaurant in nearby Johnson Creek (sorry, Rach, JC-town *snicker*) It's a truck stop, so the food is that downhome cooking type of stuff, the portions are enormous, and it's very cheap. Their desserts are also huge, delicious, and cheap, but we were too stuffed to even look at them. We then went window shopping at the outlet mall. I glanced over Motherhood Maternity. I don't really need anything but I just like to look. :) We also looked longingly at little girl clothes at Little Me and then got our free coffee, I mean, window shopped at Harry and Davids.
We went home to put the leftovers in the fridge, then went to the library. Yes, we are nerds and we went to the library on our anniversary date. But just picture it this way: Think of your favorite place to hang out. Picture it with your kids. Now, picture yourself there without your kids. Isn't the second picture much quieter and less distracting?? That's why we went to the library!
We did get the kids earlier than we told Michelle (we said we'd pick them up in the morning) and brought them home for showers and bed. It's been a good day. Praise the Lord that my morning sickness hasn't been too bad and I've actually been able to eat three full meals today. Usually I skip one meal, eat one sparingly, and eat normal at the third....never the same meal the same way two days in a row. I told Rob that this child has got to be a girl because she's already giving her momma grief......
Anyway, that's all for now!

Tupperware, Here We Go!
My party did not go as well as planned and I did not make my minimum, but I'm not discouraged. I gave out catalogues to everyone who didn't come, so maybe I'll get some orders by Wed. at the party close. I think almost everyone who reads this site got an invitation for an e-party. (Execpt Karen H.! Argh! I don't have your e-mail!!!) That is a party I make comission from, as well as get some free stuff to add to my kit. Please pray that I qualify and am able to make up the deficit in our income problem so that Rob does not have to find new employment. (And if you can't order, you can still be my friend.)
I'm still holding out for a Brinks truck to break down in front of my house and the driver gives me some money because it's too heavy for his truck. Hey, it happened with milk for George Mueller!

The Monkeys at the Zoo
We did not tell them where we were going until this morning. We might have wanted to hold off until we got there, because Matthew was very excited! Thankfully, he did not spend the hour drive asking, "Are we there yet?" I think that's still a few years off. He sat back and enjoyed the Little Einstein's CD we found at the library. Thanks to Google Earth directions, we were there in no time with no problems. (Every time we Map Quest, we get lost.)
The first thing we experienced at the zoo ended up being Matthew's favorite. The lion roared! We could hear him from the parking lot and Matthew thought that was pretty cool. I think the boys saw the lions three times while we were there. The male lion roared quite often at everything and everyone. I think he even roared back at Matthew once!
The zoo is pretty neat. It feels spread out, but it's actually quite compact. There are plenty of big animals, so you don't feel like you're going to a tiny zoo. (For those who live in Cali, it beats Happy Hollow by a long shot.) They are building a new children's area and an arcitc zone, so it will be fun to visit when they are finished.
Ben was not too impressed with much of anything. He did like the prairie dogs (because they were active), lunch, sparrows hopping around, and anything with water. All he wanted to do was play in the water, but I don't think the seals would have appreciated that. He also enjoyed the carousel (as did Matthew.) He rode a tiger and Matthew had a cabybara. That was one of the neatest carousels I've ever seen simply because of the wide variety of animals on it.
Zoo patrons are allowed to bring in food, but we opted to buy lunch. It was surprisingly cheap for a zoo. We fed the whole family for $10! And it was actually pretty good. We also got the boys each a little souvenior. Ben got a rubber ducky with a giraffe pattern on it (they are trying to get giraffes there) and Matthew got a lion mask. He now runs around the house roaring at everything!
I will post some pics of the zoo when I download them. Rob and I got some great shots of the animals, including a grizzly bear in it's pool which Rob will title "Grandpa F. in the pool." It does vaguely resemble my dad..... I liked the flamigos and the overactive badger. (Badger? Badger? We don't need no stinking badger! Name that movie for a special prize.) Rob loved the polar bear, always his favorite, but was disappointed that there were no otters out today. He has always wanted to adopt one and keep it in the tub. Oh, and Matthew thinks that the Tapirs are pigs.
If I figure out how to add video, I'll put up the clip of the boys feeding the goats. Rob put food on Ben's stroller tray and they ate off it (and licked it clean.) Ben wasn't too sure about them, but at least he didn't sample the food!
And that's our day at the zoo!

The Crab and the Angelfish
The angelfish: Rob is doing okay right now. He does not have any job leads, although the Budweiser cleaning job called back :) We saw a bunch of new stuff in the paper today, so we'll see where that goes. We did figure out that it is possible for him to work 40 hours a week when school starts. Last year he could only work 37. It's still not enough, but at least it's a plan until we find something better. He got a B- in his lit class, to our great surprise. It was a tough one and we were both praying for a C, so God was very gracious to him! Otherwise, he's plugging along. Some of his old soreness from his problem in the spring is returning, so pray that we don't have to go through all of that therapy again. Or that he finds a less strenuous job that pays lots more money.
The crab: I'm plugging along. My morning sickness keeps fluctuating, so I never know when it will hit. The past two days have been hardest at suppertime and I haven't been able to eat anything until late at night. Someone at church told me that I'm having a girl because she can't make up her mind about when I should be sick. It could be, because the quesiness is far more intense at times than it ever was with the boys. Who knows. I have my Tupperware Grand Opening on Friday. Pray that this business venture takes off for us. It'll be rough with just the one vehicle, but if God is blessing, then it will all work out.
Other news: Our favorite pizza place here in Watertown had a fire last night. We've taken several different family members there, so hopefully you remember it. The apartments above it burned, but Rico's didn't look too bad from the outside when we drove past. Pray for the Goff family (members at our church and the owners of the restaurant) as they go through the clean-up and all the paperwork involved with insurance, etc. Praise the Lord that no one was injured.
And to Jon H. -- Any safety violation at the C.S. is now called a "Harrison." Thought you might be proud.

Boys will be boys
One of Ben's favorite past times is climbing onto the table. Today, he made it on the table a few times and whacked the chandelier. So glad he discovered that bit of fun. I just got done breaking Matthew of that habit....
Both boys have been found several times climbing onto the kitchen counter by way of a chair that they moved. Matthew has been into the candy in the cupboard (need to move it higher) and Ben found a tomato soup can in the sink to play with.
One of the funnier things they were doing today is banging heads. They don't do it very hard, and it makes them giggle like crazy. I don't think I've ever seen girls doing that to each other. Oh, and they always enjoy a good romp around the couches. I don't mind that one a bit and they have a great time together.
Ben decided to bounce on my knee every chance he got and Matthew kept trying to cuddle. I normally enjoy both of these things, but not when I'm sick and the humidity is around nine thousand percent. Ah, well, it won't last too much longer. Before we know it, the blessed coolness of fall will join us, along with the glorious cold of winter. (Can you tell I really don't like summer???) Rob keeps telling me I wouldn't enjoy winter so much if I had to shovel the snow. Of course, he turns me down every time I offer to do it. :)
The boys are in the bath tub right now (Rob supervising) and it's fun to listen to them laugh together. Especially from one floor away...........

Cooking with Kids

Goofy Kids
Ben has been putting on one shoe (anyone's but his) and walking around saying, "Bye-bye" and trying to leave. He usually heads for the pantry, and since it has no other exit, it's pretty safe to say that he wont' go anywhere. He also escapes from his booster seat and tries to table dance during meals. (The straps are as tight as they will go--he's just to little for it yet.) We did the big no-no and laughed the first time, so now that we have to discipline, it's harder to get him to take us seriously.
Matthew and I went grocery shopping today and he did pretty well. So well, in fact, that I bought him some candy. Okay, prepare to shake your head and laugh: I talked him out of a 3 Musketeers bar that he could have shared and into one of those bottle-shaped suckers that you dip in that powdered candy. Yep, he was hyper. He did take a 3 hour nap, which was surprising, but I learned my lesson. Should have seen that one coming.
We watched Matthew's Little Einstein video tonight and we asked him to tell us who the characters are. They are June, Leo, Annie, and Squinkcy (Quincy). We do that just to hear him mispronounce the last one. And they fly around in Rocket so that they don't get messy.
Rob's been silly as well. If you ever have the opportunity to hear him commentate on Little Einsteins, it's pretty funny. He does think it's a good show for the kids, but as with all children's programming, it can grate on an adult's nerves after awhile.
I'm off to eat my Tollhouse Cookie Pie now. Had a craving, Rob fixed me a pie. Isn't he the bestest??

Baby Quandry Enigma
Here is the first picture of Baby Quandry Enigma, the newest little Litwiller. Q.E. is definitely there, after multiple testings to prove his/her existence!
For those who haven't heard the story, I took a home pregnancy test a few weeks ago and it was posititve. My strongest sign of pregnancy was extreme exhaustion (see my house to prove it). I did my duty and immediately called the doctor. I took a test the following day, with negative results. Because the home test was positive, they ordered a blood test. And another one. And another one. And one more after that, just to be sure. Then my doctor did an ultrasound today, and there was our new little baby, heart beating and everything. By the dates I gave them, I should be seven and a half weeks along, but the size of the baby showed six weeks. That explains the negative result, because it was earlier than we thought for me to test. I don't have a due date yet, but the end of March is the general time. Personally, I think an April 1 baby would be more appropriate for this one!
Rob and I are thrilled to pieces to be having another one. I know it's awfully soon, since the boys are so little, but I would like to have my children while I'm younger, and I'm already 31 as it is! The first thoughts always go towards affordability, but honestly, if the Lord didn't think we should have a child then I wouldn't be pregnant. We've prayed for a third one in God's timing, not ours, and we take this as a sure sign that we'll be okay. Besides, if we all waited to have kids until we could afford them, we wouldn't have them at all!
Oh, by the way, Q.E. is not the baby's real name. We named the boys each something goofy when in utero, and changed the name once we knew their gender. Matthew was Bam-Bam and Ben was Pebbles (we were hoping for a girl). Since I kept having all the tests, we thought Quandry Enigma sounded good!

Prayer Request
I have just agreed to be a Tupperware Consultant, so that should help a bit around here. Rob and I discussed my working, but we simply don't feel that my place is to work outside the home right now. Especially since..........(drum roll, please) we are expecting our third little bundle of joy. Sometime in March, a new little Litwiller will be arriving. Okay, well five of the six pregnancy tests say so and I'm having an ultrasound on Friday to confirm. I'll have to save a blog just to talk about all this crazy testing :)
So, we would appreciate your prayers at this time. I think I'm going to take a nap now. I'm just about done with today's bout of "morning" sickness (for me, after breakfast until mid-afternoon sickness.) and I need a nap! Toodles!
